Dr Michael Lazaris

Co-Founder

Growing up in South Africa, Michael developed his passion for animal welfare being surrounded by nature and a vast array of pets, from chameleons and chickens to dogs, cats and snakes. After moving to Greece as a teenager, he then studied at the Royal School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, where he obtained degrees in veterinary medicine and zoology. He then completed a small animal rotating internship at Highcroft Veterinary Referrals in Bristol before making the move to London. He is currently completing his certificate in small animal dentistry to gain Advanced Practitioner status. Michael also has a strong interest in exotics and is happy to treat any species in a first opinion setting.

Over time, Michael has worked in several busy London animal hospitals, as well as locuming for dozens of clinics throughout the city. Whilst working at RSPCA Putney Animal Hospital, Michael met Ellie, where they decided to put their passion for animal welfare and years of experience into creating Vets on the Common.

In Michael’s free time, he enjoys the outdoors, cycling and spending quality time with his friends. He also loves volunteering, having done so at charities across the world including Thailand, the Caribbean and South Africa. He has a very demanding (and adorable) rescue cat, Otto, who keeps him on his toes.
